At Actively Chinese, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information when you use our web site or applications.

Cookies and analytics

This website tracks statistics anonymously with Plausible. It does not install any cookie on your system, and it does not collect personal data. Statistics are stored on servers in the European Union, and they are not shared with nor sold to other companies.

Forms

This website links to a Google Form for people wishing to join the waitlist for the Actively Chinese Android and iOS applications.

The collected information include:

  • Email — To be able to follow-up with you
  • Name — So that we know how to call you
  • Preferred pronouns — So that we can be respectful of your gender
  • Country — To better understand which market we should serve in priority
  • Your motivation for learning Chinese — So that we can better adapt to your needs
  • The way you are open to contribute — So that we can appropriately follow-up with you

During the subsequent interactions, additional data can be collected for the purpose of this contribution.

Collected data is stored in a secure location. It will not be shared with third-parties and will be exclusively used for the purpose of the waitlist.

Applications

When you use the Actively Chinese applications for iOS or Android, we collect the following personal information:

  • Your email address, used as your account identifier and used to:
    • Contact you as part of the transactional needs of the app
    • Communicate around the preview program if you are part of it
    • Fulfill our legal obligations (for example, to inform you of updates to our contractual documents)
  • Extra contributed information such as first name and gender. These are meant to improve your experience while using the app, can be changed at any time, and do not have to be your actual information.

This information is collected while setting up your account or when you edit your profile. It is stored on secure AWS servers based in the European Union for the purpose of providing you with the service, as well as in backups of your account data. It is not shared with or sold to any third-party.

We keep your personal identifying information as long as your account is active. Note that if you request the deletion of your account, it can take up to 12 months for back-up copies to be overwritten.
